About Bhavin

Bhavin Thakker has been teaching yoga for 26 years, working with individuals, corporate teams, schools and organisations in the UK and internationally. His teaching is rooted in the traditional yoga system and shaped by his training under Himalayan yogi Bharat Thakur, founder of Artistic Yoga.

Over the course of his teaching career, Bhavin developed a particular interest in the relationship between yoga, the mind and mental wellbeing. He holds an MSc in Neuroscience & Psychology of Mental Health from the University of Warwick, bringing together his long-standing experience of yoga with contemporary understanding of the brain, behaviour and mental health.

He also holds a TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems, reflecting his commitment to developing a responsible and informed understanding of mental health alongside his yoga teaching.

His approach draws on traditional yoga while remaining informed by contemporary research. He is particularly interested in how practices such as movement, breathing, meditation, relaxation and mindful awareness may support greater self-regulation, resilience and wellbeing.

Bhavin's teaching is informed by trauma-sensitive and neurodivergence-aware principles, with an emphasis on choice, accessibility and individual needs. His experience spans corporate, educational and private wellbeing settings, including current teaching at Surrenne, a private members' wellness and longevity club in London.

Teaching philosophy

Bhavin's teaching draws on the depth of the Artistic Yoga tradition — a system that integrates asana, pranayama, meditation and relaxation into a coherent and progressive practice — while remaining grounded in contemporary understanding of how the body and mind interact.

He believes that yoga is most valuable when it is accessible, honest and adapted to the individual. Sessions are not designed around performance or aesthetics, but around helping each person develop a more settled, aware and resilient relationship with themselves.

Where relevant, Bhavin draws on insights from neuroscience, psychology and somatic practice to explain why certain techniques may be helpful — without overstating what yoga can or cannot do.

Scope of practice

Bhavin is a yoga teacher and wellbeing practitioner, not a medical or clinical mental health professional. Yoga is intended to complement, not replace, appropriate medical or psychological care.
